Sun of justice,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
in the fullness of time, you were born in the flesh of Mary.
This morning make your light shine on our souls as the
sun shines on the world,
that we may celebrate the memorial of your Mother,
the Star of the Universe,
and sing hymns of joy and praise to you who have
worked marvels;
to you be glory, for ever. Amen.

PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lord,
you make holy all our thoughts and works;
help us to imitate the virtues of your all-spotless Mother,
that we may spiritually rejoice on her feast and say
with her in all truth:
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
now and for ever. Amen.
PSALM OF THE DAY
Magnificat Antiphon:
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
Luke 1: 46-55
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant,
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.
Magnificat Antiphon:
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
[HYMN]
The Hymn, “Isaiah, Why Remain Silent?” (page 169) may
be sung after the Psalm of the Day.
SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Christ,
Light of the world,
let your light shine upon us that we may walk
in your ways,
through the intercession and aid of your Mother.
Beacon of the Church and Star of the Universe.
May we walk with her steadfast in the faith, confident in
hope and strong in charity
and, having attained your glory,
we will praise you with your Virgin Mother, for ever.
Amen.
NUHRO (HYMN OF LIGHT)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright in Christ Jesus,
our Lord.
Begotten of the Father, he manifested Himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the
radiance of his light.
Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away.
From the true Light there arises from us the light which illumines our darkened eyes.
His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.
Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in
light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.
He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.
Our King comes in majestic glory,
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.
Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to
the almighty Father, who,
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with
hope and salvation.
When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in
weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.
The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the
glory of the just and upright people of the earth;
together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.
Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great
glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen. Alleluia.
[HYMN]
Either the Hymn, “The Return of Christ” (page 169) or the
Hymn, “Christ the Light” (page 169) may be sung after the
Nuhro.
THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Our Savior,
we implore you to enkindle charity in our hearts and
sow joy in our souls.
through the intercession of Mary, joy of the Church
and Mother of love,
that we may follow your ways and keep you commandments,
and we will give you glory,
now and for ever. Amen.
MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148
Alleluia.
Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;
Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded and they were created;
He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea monsters and all depths;
Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;
You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;
You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.
Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,
Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,
Praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.
Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.
Alleluia.
Psalm 149:1-6
Alleluia.
Sing to the Lord a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.
Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
For the Lord loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.
Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing joy upon their couches;
Let the high praises of God be in their throats.
Alleluia.
Psalm 150
Alleluia.
Praise the Lord in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.
Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.
Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.
Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.
Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.
Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord!
Alleluia.
Psalm 117
Praise the Lord, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!
For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.
Alleluia.
HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the Father who chose the humble
Virgin as Mother for his Son:
to the Son who, became man and was born from her in the cave
at Bethlehem;
to the Holy Spirit who adorned her with all beauty and virtues.
To the Good One is due glory and honor this morning,
and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.
SEDRO
Mary,
the spirit finds itself powerless to describe your humility
and the dignity to which you were raised.
The angel came to salute you in the name of the Most High,
and in all humility you responded to him:
I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according
to your will,
Because of your humility and your dignity, all generations
call you blessed.
The all-powerful has crowned you Queen of heaven and earth,
Queen of angels and men.
We ask you to obtain for us from your Son humility on earth
like yours,
that in heaven we may achieve a place near to you.
With all the assurance of a Mother,
ask you Son to grant strength to the Church, zeal to its
shepherds, sanctify to its priests,
purity to the religious, innocence to children, maturity to young people, and wisdom to the old.
May he have mercy on those who have died in the faith and sleep in the hope of the resurrection,
and count us among the number of the pure apostles and saintly martyrs.
May he grant this through your intercession and we will give him glory,
now and for ever. Amen.
QOLO
Holy are you, O God, you were established as a perfect man in
the womb of the Daughter of David.
Holy are you, O Strong One, you have strengthened the weak
Virgin so she could carry the One who has carried the world.
Holy are you, O Immortal One, by your resurrection you have
raised the dead and given life to the world.
On the memorial of your holy Mother, grant us your joy and
peace, and we will praise you, for ever.
ETRO
Mary,
you are the garden who has given the world the fruit of life.
Ask you only son to bless our seasons, harvests, and the work of our hands;
may he sow his word in our hearts and in our souls.
May he grant this through your intercession,
through the prayers and incense we offer him
on this day of your feast;
and we will give thanks to the glorious Trinity,
now and for ever. Amen.
READINGS
MAZMOORO
The angels rejoiced and the people exalted in the memory of the Blessed Virgin.
My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my
Savior, for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
Lord, your servants praise you on the memorial of the Blessed
Virgin, angels and all your people glorify you on her feast.
SCRIPTURE READING
A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles
Acts 7: 30-36
“Forty years later, an angel appeared to him in the desert near Mount Sinai in the flame of a burning bush. When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight, and as he drew near to look at it, the voice of the Lord came, ‘I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob.’ Then Moses, trembling, did not dare to look at it. But the Lord said to him, ‘Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. I have witnessed the affliction of my people in Egypt and have heard their groaning, and I have come down to rescue them. Come now, I will send you to Egypt.’ This Moses, whom they had rejected with the words, ‘Who appointed you ruler and judge?’ God sent as [both] ruler and deliverer, through the angel who appeared to him in the bush. This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, at the Red Sea, and in the desert for forty years.
