Morning Sunday of the Hemorrhaging Woman

SUNDAY OF THE HEMORRHAGING WOMAN Third Sunday of Lent Safro

INTRODUCTION

DOXOLOGY

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as we begin and until we conclude.
May mercy and compassion be poured forth upon us
in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory for ever.

Amen.

OPENING PRAYER
Lord God,
with the morning light may we raise to you pure praise and angelic psalms.
United with all the children of the holy Church throughout the world,
may we contemplate your wonderful signs which draw us to you and praise the holy Trinity,
now and for ever.

Amen

GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.

PRAISE OF THE ANGELS

Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.

Praise the Lord all you nations,
glorify him all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy towards us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.
and peace on earth and good will to all.

PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O God,
may we be zealous for good works,
so that on this day we may be at your service without indifference or hesitation.
Filled with your love,
may we rediscover your glory
and fulfill the mission of the gospel.
Then all will know that you have loved them
and that they should love one another for your sake,
you who live and reign, for ever.

Amen.

PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
Your kindness is a greater good than life;
my lips shall glorify you.

Psalm 63
O God, you are my God whom I seek; for you my flesh pines and my soul thirsts
like the earth, parched, lifeless and without water.

Thus have I gazed toward you in the sanctuary
to see your power and your glory,

For your kindness is a greater good than life;
my lips shall glorify you.

Thus will I bless you while I live;
lifting up my hands, I will call upon your name.

As with the riches of a banquet shall my soul be satisfied,
and with exultant lips my mouth shall praise you.

I will remember you upon my couch,
and through the night-watches I will meditate on you:

That you are my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.

My soul clings fast to you;
your right hand upholds me.

But they shall be destroyed who seek my life,
they shall go into the depths of the earth;

They shall be delivered over to the sword,
and shall be the prey of jackals.

The king, however, shall rejoice in God;
everyone who swears by him shall glory,
but the mouths of those who speak falsely shall be stopped.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

Antiphon:
Your kindness is a greater good than life;
my lips shall glorify you.

[HYMN]
THE CHURCH (Daily)
Blessed are you, O Church, garden of the Beloved!
From a mustard seed, the smallest of all seeds, you have grown.
Your roots are in firm soil, sheltered from the winds;
In your branches are the martyrs, they are a display of blood shed for the faith.
The birds quench their thirst at this marvel.
Psalms and prophecies fill your vast space.
You are the land of the Spirit, the meeting place of the nations.
Blessed are you, dwelling place of the guest, neighbor of the One who is near.

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lord,
you are compassionate towards your creatures and towards every person.
You are the Light who overcomes darkness in the world and the Life without whom there is no life.
Place your teachings before our eyes and your grace in our hearts,
that in seeing and acting we may be witnesses of your joyful truth.
Waiting for your return, with lighted lamps, we shall go out to meet you,
and give glory to you, your Father, and your Holy Spirit, for ever.

Amen.

NUHRO (HYMN OF LIGHT)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright is Christ Jesus, our Lord, Begotten of the Father, he manifested himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the radiance of his light.

Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away.
From the true Light there arises for us the light which illumines our darkened eyes.

His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.

Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.

He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.

Our King comes in majestic glory,
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.

Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to the almighty Father, who,
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with hope and salvation.

When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.

The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the glory of the just and upright people of the earth;
together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.

Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great glory
to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

[HYMN]
CHRIST THE LIGHT
Glory to you, O marvelous One, our Light,
Your pure light has dispersed the darkness,
And creatures are illumined by the glow of your countenance.
We raise our plea to Christ, the Most High,
Who manifested himself to us in his hidden glory.
Let us rejoice together in sweet hope;
Our night will end and the dawn will appear.
Then we shall behold your splendid light.

THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
All-powerful Lord,
you raised the widow’s son out of compassion for his mother.
Have compassion on us in your goodness,
create in us a new spirit,
take away all the care of this world
and we shall praise you,
now and for ever.

Amen.

MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148
Alleluia.

Praise the LORD from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;

Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.

Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.

Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for he commanded and they were created;

He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.

Praise the LORD from the earth;
you see monsters and all depths;

Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;

You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;

You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.

Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,

Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,

Praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;

His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.

Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.

Alleluia.

Psalm 149: 1-6
Alleluia.

Sing to the LORD a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.

Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.

For the LORD loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.

Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy upon their couches;

Let the high praises of God be in their throats.

Alleluia.

Psalm 150
Alleluia.

Praise the LORD in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.

Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.

Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.

Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.

Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.

Let everything that has breath
praise the LORD!

Alleluia.

Psalm 117

Praise the LORD, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory, and honor to the Father who has compassion on us and sent his only Son for our salvation;
to the only Son who cared for our wounds
and applied a healing remedy to them;

to the Holy life-giving Spirit, who strengthens those who call upon him.
To the Good One is due glory and honor this morning,
and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever.

Amen.

SEDRO
Strong and all-powerful Lord,
in diverse ways you spoke to our fathers in times past, and in fullness of time you spoke to us through your
eternal Word,
who has revealed you to us by his words and deeds.
You created us in your own image and likeness
and placed your love in our hearts,
but we lost it by our selfishness.
Therefore, you sent us your well-beloved Son
who gave himself up for us, in order to teach us how to love.
Thanks and praise be to you, O Lord,
because of who you are and what you have done.
We beseech you and we implore your mercy;
extend your hand and watch over us,
that the world might not deceive us,
that we not forget that we have been created for you,
and that our hearts should not acknowledge anyone but you.
We are unaware that sickness is spread in us
and that the storm wrecks our thoughts and our imagination.
Be not far from us in our difficult hours
and do not allow us to go into the depths of despair.
Heal us as you healed the paralytic, the blind man,
the woman with a hemorrhage, and the cripple.
Pour forth calm into our souls as you calmed the angry waves.
Lord,
we beseech you for all who suffer,
who are in pain, difficulty an sorrow.
Into their bruised hearts pour your sweet consolation,
that your hope and your face might be their healing remedy.
Look upon them with your fatherly gaze,
that in their trials and sufferings they be not far from your paternal love.
Extend your hand and bless us all,
so that true joy may be fixed in our hearts
and we may give praise and glory to the glorious Trinity, now and for ever.

Amen.

QOLO
Blessed be Christ who loves the sick and the poor
and has poured out his sweet consolation and his life upon their wounds.

Glory to our God and Savior who lives in his Church
and pours out peace and joy into the hearts of those who believer in him.

ETRO
O Holy One,
you healed the daughter of the head of the synagogue
and with love and compassion restored life to the son of the widow.
In your mercy accept our incense and our prayers,
and make our souls holy by your love,
that we may be your sincere witnesses by our words and deeds, and glorify the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, for ever.

Amen.

READINGS

Christ walked in the midst of the crowd,
a woman looks to approach him and obtain a cure from him.

Hear, peoples of the earth, Christ walks in the midst of the crowd;

O God who accepted the prayers of the just and righteous

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Book of Proverbs
Proverbs 6: 4-8
Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids; Free yourself as a gazelle from the snare, or as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Go to the ant, O sluggard, study her ways and learn wisdom; For though she has no chief, no commander or ruler, She procures her food in the summer, stores up her provisions in the harvest.

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles
Acts 10: 1-8
Now in Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of the Cohort called the Italica, devout and God-fearing along with his whole household, who used to give alms generously to the Jewish people and pray to God constantly. One afternoon about three o’clock, he saw plainly in a vision an angel of God come in to him and say to him,
“Cornelius.” He looked intently at him and, seized with fear, said, “What is it, sir?” He said to him, “Your prayers and almsgiving have ascended as a memorial offering before God. Now send some men to Joppa and summon one Simon who is called Peter. He is staying with another Simon, a tanner, who has a house by the sea.” When the angel who spoke to him had left, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from his staff, explained everything to them, and sent them to Joppa.
