Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as be begin and until we conclude.
May mercy and compassion be poured forth upon us
in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory for ever. Amen.
OPENING PRAYER
Lord God,
may we praise you this morning with the
angels who glorify you day and night.
Let our praise be pure as theirs,
that on the marvelous Morning which has no evening
we may glorify you, for ever. Amen.
GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.
PRAISE OF THE ANGELS
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.
Praise the Lord, all you nations,
glorify him, all you peoples!
For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endues for ever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever,
and peace on earth and good will to all.
PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Lord,
you are wonderful in your saints, marvelous in the
signs of your creation,
you have made your angels into spirits and your servants into flames of fire.
Deliver us from the weight of our bodies which pull us down
and from the attraction of passions which lead our steps from your way.
Then with our whole being and desire, we shall raise ourselves from the earth
and direct all our feelings and thoughts towards you,
flying on the wings of your angels
and joining them in praising you, for ever.
PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
You make the winds your messengers, and
flaming fire your ministers.
Psalm 104: 1-4, 13-16, 19-35
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord, my God, you are great indeed!
You are clothed with majesty and glory,
robed in light as with a cloak.
You have spread out the heavens like a tent-cloth;
you have constructed your palace upon the waters.
You make the clouds your chariot;
you travel on the wings of the wind.
You make the winds your messengers,
and flaming fire your ministers.
You water the mountains from your palace;
the earth is replete with the fruit of your works.
You raise grass for the cattle,
and vegetation for men’s use.
Producing bread from the earth,
and wine to gladden men’s hearts,
So that their faces gleam with oil,
and bread fortifies the hearts of men.
Well watered are the trees of the Lord,
the cedars of Lebanon, which he planted;
You made the moon to mark the seasons;
the sun knows the hour of its setting.
You bring darkness and it is night;
then all the beasts of the forest roam about;
Young lions roar for the prey
and seek their food from God.
When the sun rises, they withdraw
and couch in their dens.
Man goes forth to his work
and to his tillage till the evening.
How manifold are your works, O Lord!
In wisdom you have wrought them all—
the earth is full of your creatures;
The sea also, great and wide,
in which are schools without number
of living things both small and great,
And where ships move about
with Leviathan, which you formed to make sport of it.
They all look to you
to give them food in due time.
When you give it to them, they gather it;
when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
If you hide your face, they are dismayed;
if you take away their breath, they perish
and return to their dust.
When you send forth your spirit,
they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord be glad in his works!
He who looks upon the earth, and it trembles;
who touches the mountains, and they smoke!
I will sing to the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God while I live.
Pleasing to him be my theme;
I will be glad in the Lord.
May sinners cease from the earth,
and may the wicked be no more.
Bless the Lord, O my soul! Alleluia
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Lord,
your face is more magnificent than the light
of the morning
and your appearance more resplendent than the brightness of
the sun;
thus you have deigned to create angels of light and of fire.
Their wings veil their faces in reverence before your majesty.
With this morning’s sun, let the light of your Holy Spirit shine on us,
that he may guide us in your ways.
Then, when you appear with your angels at your second coming, we will stand at your right with lighted lamps
and praise you, your Father, and your Holy Spirit,
for ever. Amen.
NUHRO (HYMN OF LIGHT)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright is Christ Jesus our Lord.
Begotten of the Father, he manifested himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the radiance of his light.
Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away, From the true Light there arises for us the Light which illumines our darkened eyes.
His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.
Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.
He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.
Our King comes in majestic glory.
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.
Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to
almighty Father, who
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with hope and salvation.
When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in
weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.
The angles and guardians of heaven will rejoice
in the glory of the
just and upright people of earth;
together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.
Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
Alleluia.
THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O God,
the angels in heaven praise you to whom is due
all praise.
Earth and heaven sing to your name which fills all creation.
On this morning may our voices mingle with theirs
and give praise to the life-giving Trinity:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
glory to God, for ever. Amen.
MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148

Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;
Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded and they were created;
He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea monsters and all depths;
Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;
You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;
You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.
Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,
Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,
Praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.
Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.
Alleluia.
Psalm 149:1-6
Alleluia.
Sing to the Lord
a new song of praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
For the Lord loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.
Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing joy upon their couches;
Let the high praises of God
be in their throats.
Alleluia.

praise him in the firmament of his strength.

praise him with strings and pipe.
Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.
Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord!

HOOSOYO
PROEMION

and glorified by the inhabitants of the earth.
To the Good One is due glory and honor this morning,
and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.
SEDRO
Glory to you who were glorified in the chariot of the fiery
seraphim
and lowered yourself to the womb of the pure Virgin.
You are seated on the throne of the heavens
above the hosts of angels.
You are veiled in the mystery of the holy sacrament under the forms of bread and wine,
food and drink for us mortals.
O Most High,
spiritual creatures praise you at all times
and you desire that the children of the Church praise
you this morning.
Lord,
we ask you to send your angels to us as
messengers who will make known your will;
as guards who will help us to avoid evil;
as warriors who will protect us;
and as guides who will show us the way.
May they accompany us on the way,
protect the churches, aid us against
the enemy,
and be for us a means of obtaining your
grace and instruments of peace.
By the angels of light, protect us from the
angels of darkness who war against them.
With them we will praise and glorify you,
now and for ever. Amen.
QOLO
God sits on his throne, the cherubim praise him, the seraphim glorify him and say: Holy are you, O God; Holy are you, O
Strong One; Holy are you, O Immortal One.
Your Church mingles the voices of its children with those of
angels, that we may all sing glory and thanksgiving to you, who have saved us by your cross.
ETRO
Lord God,
we ask you to accept the perfume of our incense and prayers
on the memorial of the pure angels who praise you night and day.
May we mingle our voices with theirs,
now and for ever. Amen.
MAZMOORO
O God, the angels praise you in heaven. By your incarnation of the Virgin, your death and resurrection you have saved the
world.
Bless the Lord, all his angels, exalt him all his saints.
Blessed are you for accepting the praise of the people you saved, mingling it with that of your angels in the heavens.
SCRIPTURE READING
A Reading from the First Letter of John
1 John 4: 1-6
Beloved, do not trust every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can know the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges Jesus Christ come in the flesh be longs to God, and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus does not belong to God.
This is the spirit of the antichrist that, as you heard, is to come, but in fact is already in the world. You belong to God, children, and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They belong to the world; accordingly, their teaching belongs to the world, and the world listens to them. We belong to God, and anyone who knows God listens to us, while anyone who does not belong to God refuses to hear us. This is how we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of deceit.
