Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Christ our God,
Promise of eternal life,
you gave strength to the paralytic and he praised you; because of him men an women glorify God.
Strengthen our faith in you
and today we shall praise you by our words and deeds
and bring others to give you praise.

PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
Come! Behold the deeds of the Lord,
the astounding things he has wrought on earth.

Psalm 46
God is our refuge and our strength,
and ever-present help in distress.

Therefore we fear not, though the earth be shaken
and mountains plunge into the depths of the sea;

Though its waters rage and foam
and the mountains quake at its surging.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
our stronghold is the God of Jacob.

There is a stream whose runlets gladden the city of God, the holy dwelling of the Most High.

God is in its midst; it shall not be disturbed;
God will help it at the break of dawn.

Though nations are in turmoil, kingdoms totter,
God will help it at the break of dawn.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
our stronghold is the God of Jacob.

Come! behold the deeds of the Lord,
the astounding things he has wrought on earth:

He has stopped wars to the end of the earth:
the bow he breaks; he splinters the spears;
he burns the shields with fire.

Desist! and confess that I am God,
exalted among the nations, exalted upon the earth.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
our stronghold is the God of Jacob.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Antiphon:
Come! Behold the deeds of the Lord,
the astounding things he has wrought on earth.

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lord,
you heal the soul and body.
You pardoned the children of Adam and forgave their
transgressions.
Enlighten the hearts of those who are far from you,
that during this Lent they may return to the Father’s house.
May the exhortations addressed to believers be a light which comes from you,
that they may recognize your voice
and enter your sheepfold where there is a bountiful pasture and living water.
They will glorify you, your Father, and your Holy Spirit, for ever. Amen.

NUHRO (HYMN OF LIGHT)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright is Christ Jesus, our Lord, Begotten of the Father, he manifested himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the radiance of his light.

Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away.
From the true Light there arises for us the light which illumines our darkened eyes.

His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.

Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.

He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.

Our King comes in majestic glory,
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.

Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to the almighty Father, who,
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with hope and salvation.

When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.

The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the glory of the just and upright people of the earth; together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.
Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lord,
your mercy has been great towards us,
your favors have abounded.
Therefore, may all mouths praise you:
the weak and the strong, the suffering and those in good health, that this morning your mercy may be for us a balm and a consolation.
We shall give you glory,
now and forever. Amen.

MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148
Alleluia.

Praise the LORD from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;

Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.

Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.

Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for he commanded and they were created;

He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.

Praise the LORD from the earth;
you see monsters and all depths;

Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;

You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;

You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.

Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,

Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,

Praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;

His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.

Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.

Alleluia.

Psalm 149: 1-6
Alleluia.

Sing to the LORD a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.

Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.

For the LORD loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.

Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy upon their couches;

Let the high praises of God be in their throats.

Alleluia.

Psalm 150
Alleluia.

Praise the LORD in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.

Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.

Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.

Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.

Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.

Let everything that has breath
praise the LORD!

Alleluia.

Psalm 117

Praise the LORD, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the One the Father sanctified and sent into the world.
He is the Good Shepherd who loves his flock
and give his life for his sheep.
He has borne our sorrows
and given us relief and healing.
To the Good One is due glory and honor this
morning,
and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.

SEDRO
Glory to you, O Christ,
you turned toward a wounded humanity to nurse and heal it.
Your heart was sympathetic to our sorrows and sufferings and you have pardoned our sins and alleviated our torments.
You are the Sun and the Light of the world,
its warmth and its life,
its soul, its mind and its beating heart.
O God,
grant that the world may live through you and for you, that each person may find meaning in life and happiness in existence.
During this Lent, we pray for all the children of the world; put justice in the minds of those who govern;
remove selfishness from the hearts of the rich;
let love reign among us, that we may know we are brothers and sisters,
and that we ought to assist and aid each other.
May the strong help the weak and the rich the poor.
Remove enmity and hate from our souls,
so that each action may be for the common good
and not for one’s own selfish interest.
May your Church be a beacon of justice and love,
of peace an fraternity for her children;
may all know that you have come into the world to save it through love
and that you have established the Church as a sign of the Father’s love for us.

Today and always, O Lord,
look upon us as our Redeemer and not as a just judge, protect us who are weak and worthless, and forgive us as you forgave the paralytic.
We thank you for your compassion and goodness
and give praise to you, your Father and Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

QOLO
The paralytic cried out: “Have mercy on me, O Christ have mercy on me, forgive my sins and heal me!”

Our Lord said: “My son, your sins are forgiven, take up your litter and go to your home in
peace.”

ETRO
O God,
accept the incense and prayer of your servants,
grant to each of us the grace you gave to the paralytic of Capernaum.
We implore you for those among us who are sick or suffering; bear their difficulties and make their lives holy,
and they will glorify and thank you, for ever. Amen.

READINGS
MAZMOORO
Glory to the Son of God who said to the paralytic: “Your sins are forgiven, rise up and walk.”

Lord, your servants thank you because you have healed the paralytic; your just ones praise you, because you forgave their sins.

Glory to him who has said: “Ask and I will give to you, knock and I will open the door to the repentant.”

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Prophet Isaiah
Isaiah 35: 3-10
Strengthen the hands that are feeble, make firm the knees that are weak,

Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not! Here is your God, he comes with vindication; With divine recompense he comes to save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared; Then will the lame leap like a stag, then the tongue of the dumb will sing. Streams will burst forth in the desert, and rivers in the steppe. The burning sands will become pools, and the thirsty ground, springs of water; The abode where jackals lurk will be a marsh for the reed and papyrus. A highway will be there, called the holy way; No one unclean may pass over it, nor fools go astray on it.
No lion will be there, nor beast of prey go up to be met upon it. It is for those with a journey to make, and on it the redeemed will walk. Those whom the LORD has ransomed will return and enter Zion singing, crowned with everlasting joy; They will meet with joy and gladness, sorrow and mourning will flee.
A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles
Acts
3: 1-10
Now Peter and John were going up to the temple area for the three o’clock hour of prayer. And a man crippled from birth was carried and placed at the gate of the temple called “the Beautiful Gate” every day to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms. But Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them. Peter said, “I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, [rise and]
walk.” Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong. He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, hey recognized him as the one who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what had happened to him.
