in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory for ever. Amen.
OPENING PRAYER
O God,
this morning raise up our pure hands,
our chaste hearts and our noble thoughts to you.
By your resurrection you have renewed the old man within us.
May your thoughts and ways become our own
and may we walk toward you on the path of life,
glorifying and praising you,
now and for ever. Amen.
GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.
PRAISE OF THE ANGELS
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.
Praise the Lord all you nations,
glorify him all you peoples!
For steadfast is his mercy towards us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.
and peace on earth and good will to all.
PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Christ,
your victory over death is the hope of our own victory.
Your life after death is for us the hope of eternal life.
Your hope does not deceive,
because it is based on your love which is beyond
all human love,
and moved you to give your life for us.
We offer you glory and praise,
now and for ever. Amen.
PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
We give you thanks, O God, we give you thanks.
Psalm 75
We give you thanks, O God, we give you thanks,
and we invoke your name; we declare your wondrous deeds.
“When I seize the appointed time,
I will judge with equity.
Though the earth and all who dwell in it quake,
I have set firm its pillars.
I say to the boastful: Boast not;
and to the wicked: Lift not up your horns.”
Lift not up your horns against the Most High;
speak not haughtily against the Rock.
For neither from the east nor from the west,
neither from the desert nor from the mountains
But God is the judge;
one he brings low; another he lifts up.
For a cup is in the LORD’S hand,
full of spiced and foaming wine,
And he pours out from it; even to the dregs they shall drain it; all the wicked of the earth shall drink.
But as for me, I will exult forever;
I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.
And I will break off the horns of all the wicked;
the horns of the just shall be lifted up.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
Antiphon:
We give you thanks, O God, we give you thanks.
SECOND PRAYER
O Christ,
by sharing in our death you allowed us to
share in your resurrection.
Death has now become a way which leads to that life,
beyond which there is no death.
Blessed are those on whom your light shines
because you are our Lord through whom we have all things and from whom we come.
We offer praise to you,
now and for ever. Amen.
NUHRO (HYMN OF LIGHT)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright is Christ Jesus, our Lord, Begotten of the Father, he manifested himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the radiance of his light.
Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away.
From the true Light there arises for us the light which illumines our darkened eyes.
His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.
Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.
He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.
Our King comes in majestic glory,
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.
Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to the almighty Father, who,
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with hope and salvation.
When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.
The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the glory of the just and upright people of the earth;
together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.
Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Christ our Savior,
through sin we were dead and without hope.
Through your resurrection you gave us life
and made the bright light of hope shine upon us.
Through you, O Word, God has spoken every word
and given us every gift.
Through you we have all things,
for we live through you and for you.
Keep us as the branches of your vine,
so that in you we may live and die,
and through you we may come to the glory of the
resurrection,
and praise you, for ever. Amen.
MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148
Alleluia.
Praise the LORD from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;
Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for he commanded and they were created;
He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.
Praise the LORD from the earth;
you see monsters and all depths;
Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;
You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;
You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.
Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,
Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,
Praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;
His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.
Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.
Alleluia.
Psalm 149: 1-6
Alleluia.
Sing to the LORD a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.
Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
For the LORD loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.
Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy upon their couches;
Let the high praises of God be in their throats.
Alleluia.
Psalm 150
Alleluia.
Praise the LORD in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.
Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.
Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.
Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.
Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.
Let everything that has breath
praise the LORD!
Alleluia.
Psalm 117
Praise the LORD, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!
For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
Alleluia.
HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the merciful One,
who humbled himself, became flesh, tasted death and
descended to the abode of the dead.
He is the living One whose light has shone in the
darkness,
through his resurrection he made the disciples and the Church rejoice
and manifested salvation to all.
To the Good One, is due glory and honor this morning, and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.
SEDRO
O Christ, Word of God,
we contemplate your plan of salvation
and your love for us.
Through your marvelous birth you made light shine
on the world
and by your glorious resurrection you placed joy
and hope in our hearts.
You are our way and our hope.
You announced the truth to us
and showed us that life consists in love
and not in force and violence.
You are the truth, O Christ,
and the truth is this:
you who were dead, were raised up and have
given us life.
You are the life which created the universe,
renewed the heavens and the earth,
and gave back to man the life which he had lost.
Now, in the joy of the resurrection, we pray:
give peace to the world,
strengthen the Church in your gospel,
sanctify her children, and unify those who believe in you, so that they may truly witness to your unique love.
Watch over us and protect us from all evil
that we may be your true disciples.
Put joy into our hearts,
that we may be consoled amidst the trials of the this world, give witness to your name before all people,
and that they may know you, the Father and the Spirit, and glorify the living Trinity,
now and for ever. Amen.
QOLO
The angels serve and glorify God. The Church on earth sings the praises of the Most High.

ETRO
O Christ,
on the feast of your glorious resurrection,
accept the fragrant perfume of our incense and our prayers which we offer in thanksgiving for the death you suffered for us, your glorious resurrection,
and your victory over sin.
May your cross be our strength
and your resurrection our hope,
so that we may glorify you in your kingdom,
now and for ever. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles
Acts 22: 17-30
“After I had returned to Jerusalem and while I was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance and saw the Lord saying to me, ‘Hurry, leave Jerusalem at once, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’ But I replied, ‘Lord, they themselves know that from synagogue to synagogue I used to imprison and beat those who believed in you.
And when the blood of your witness Stephen was being shed, I myself stood by giving my approval and keeping guard over the cloaks of his murderers.’ Then he said to me,
‘Go, I shall send you far away to the Gentiles.’ ” They listened to him until he said this, but then they raised their voices and shouted, “Take such a one as this away from the earth. It is not right that he should live.” And as they were yelling and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, the cohort commander ordered him to be brought into the compound and gave instruction that he be interrogated under the lash to determine the reason why they were making such an outcry against him. But when they had stretched him out for the whips, Paul said to the centurion on
duty, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman citizen and has not been tried?” When the centurion heard this, he went to the cohort commander and reported it, saying, “What are you going to do? This man is a Roman citizen.” Then the commander came and said to him, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?” “Yes,” he answered. The commander replied,
“I acquired this citizenship for a large sum of money.” Paul said, “But I was born one.”
At once those who were going to interrogate him backed away from him, and the commander became alarmed when he realized that he was a Roman citizen and that he had had him bound. The next day, wishing to determine the truth about why he was being accused by the Jews, he freed him and ordered the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin to convene. Then he brought Paul down and made him stand before them.
