Saturday Evening

Sunday Ramsho

INTRODUCTION
DOXOLOGY
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as we begin and until we conclude.
May mercy and compassion be poured forth upon us
in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory forever.

Amen

OPENING PRAYER
Lord, Jesus,
in the richness of your grace and mercy,
grant that we may praise your rising from the tomb
with joyful hearts and clear consciences,
glorify your victory with holy words,
and proclaim your triumph with clear voices.
And we shall join with the heavenly hosts in
exalting your greatness and mercy,
with your Father and Holy Spirit, now and forever.

Amen.

GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.

PRAISE OF THE ANGEL
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.

Praise the Lord all you nations,
glorify him all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever,
and peace on earth and good will to all.

PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Lord,
you are the Entrance for those who seek you
and the safe harbor of your stewards,
you give joy to those who call upon you
and rest to the weary.
Grant us to find mercy in your presence
on the great Day of your coming.
May we be separated from the goats on your left
and be joined with the sheep on your right,
and give you glory and praise,
now and forever.

Amen.

PSALM OF THE DAY

Antiphon:
Trust in the Lord
and do good.

Psalm 37: 1-19
Be not vexed over evildoers,
nor jealous of those who do wrong;

For like grass they quickly wither,
and like green herbs they wilt.

Trust in the Lord and do good,
that you may dwell in the land and enjoy security.

Take delight in the Lord,
and he will grant you your heart’s requests.

Commit to the Lord your way;
trust in him, and he will act.

He will make justice dawn for you like the light;
bright as the noonday shall be your vindication.

Leave it to the Lord,
and wait for him;

Be not vexed at the successful path
of the man who does malicious deeds.

Give up your anger, and forsake wrath;
be not vexed, it will only harm you.

For evildoers shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall possess the land.

Yet a little while, and the wicked man shall be no more;
though you mark his place he will not be there.

But the meek shall possess the land,
they shall delight in abounding peace.

The wicked man plots against the just
and gnashes his teeth at them;

But the Lord laughs at him,
for he sees that his day is coming.

A sword the wicked draw; they bend their bow
to bring down the afflicted and the poor,
to slaughter those whose path is right.

But their swords shall pierce their own hearts,
and their bows shall be broken.

Better is the scanty store of the just
then the great wealth of the wicked,

For the power of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord supports the just.

The Lord watches over the lives of the wholehearted;
their inheritance lasts forever.

They are not put to shame in an evil time;
in days of famine they have plenty.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
now and forever. Amen.

Antiphon:
Trust in the Lord
and do good.

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Lord, you are the Most High who humbled yourself
to overcome our weakness;
the free One who gave yourself up to death
to free us from the penalty of sin.
O Source of life,
shine your face upon us and renew us
on the Day of your glorious coming.
Praise be to you, now and forever.

Amen.

EVENING PSALMS
Psalm 141: 1-4
O Lord, to you I call; hasten to me;
harken to my voice when I call upon you.

Let my prayer come like incense before you;
the lifting up of my hands, like the evening sacrifice.

O Lord, set a watch before my mouth,
a guard at the door of my lips.

Let not my heart incline to the evil
of engaging in deeds of wickedness

With men who are evildoers;
and let me not partake of their dainties.

Psalm 142
With a loud voice I cry out to the Lord;
with a loud voice I beseech the Lord.

My complaint I pour out before him;
before him I lay bare my distress.

When my spirit is faint within me,
you know my path.

In the way along which I walk
they have hid a trap for me.

I look to the right to see,
but there is no one who pays me heed.

I have lost all means of escape;
there is no one who cares for my life.

I cry out to you, O Lord:
I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land
of the living.”

Attend to my cry,
for I am brought low indeed.

Rescue me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.

Lead me forth from prison,
that I may give thanks to your name.

The just shall gather around me
when you have been good to me.

Psalm 119:105-112
A lamp to my feet is your word,
a light to my path.

I resolve and swear
to keep your just ordinances.

I am very much afflicted;
O Lord, give me life according to your word.

Accept, O Lord, the free homage of my mouth,
and teach me your decrees.

Though constantly I take my life in my hands,
yet I forget not your law.

The wicked have laid a snare for me,
but from your precepts I have not strayed.

Your decrees are my inheritance forever;
the joy of my heart they are.

I intend in my heart to fulfill you statutes
always to the letter.

Psalm 117
Praise the Lord, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures forever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Alleluia.

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the good and merciful Lord;
in his kindness, he became incarnate among us
and willingly endured death in our place.
Of his own accord, he plunged into the abyss of death,
gave joy to his disciples by his resurrection,
and illuminated the nations with the light of his salvation.
To him is due glory and honor this evening,
now and forever.

Amen.

SEDRO
Who can praise the greatness of your mercy, O Word of God,
and what voice can bless you who are above all praise?
Neither mind nor tongue can describe the marvels you have
performed on this holy day of your resurrection from the dead.
With the psalmist David, we exclaim:
“This is the day the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice!
This is the day that has no equal;
This is the great feast, crown and jewel of all feasts.
And now, Christ our God, on this day of your resurrection from the dead,
we ask you to grant us the forgiveness of our sins and faults.
Through the fragrance of this incense (our prayers), which we offer you,
grant justice to the oppressed and comfort to the afflicted.
Bring back those far away, direct those who are near,
and guide those who travel.
Protect the priests, purify the deacons, and pardon the sinners: watch over the just, protect the orphans, and help the widows.
Drive away revolutions and extinguish troubles.
Remember those who have died in the faith and grant them
rest in your heavenly kingdom;
may we celebrate with them the feast that never ends,
and proclaim your glory and that of your Father and your holy and living Spirit,
now and forever.

Amen.

QOLO
Holy are you, O God, to whom angels and mortals give glory in heaven and on earth.

Holy are you, O Strong One, who in your love call sinners back to you.

Holy are you, O Immortal One, at whose door the contrite of
heart knock to beg your forgiveness.
Lord of mercy and God of all consolation, look upon us with kindness, and grant
us pardon and the remission of our sins.

O Lord, grant that we may do penance and be seated in the heaven of joy.
Then we shall render glory and thanksgiving to your name, now and forever.

ETRO
Lord, God,
grant that by our good works, we may be a pleasing perfume;
by our right conduct, a pleasing fragrance;
by our genuine faith, a pure incense;
by our witness, a resplendent temple.
Receive our prayers and, in your love,
grant those requests which will be helpful to us,
and give rest to our departed in your kingdom of joy.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory forever.

Amen.

READINGS
MAZMOORO
Come, glorious feast, first day of the week, joy and exaltation of angels and men.

From the mountain tops, angels and men praise the Lord and
cry out, “Come, glorious feast!”

Blessed are those who celebrate Sunday with psalms and hymns
and the proclamation of the gospel.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Book of Proverbs
Proverbs 9: 1-12
Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns; She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table. She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city: “Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say, Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed! Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied and the years of your life increased.” He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium. Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. If you are wise, it is to your own advantage; and if you are arrogant, you alone shall bear it.

A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew
Matthew 24: 1-28
Jesus left the temple area and was going away, when his disciples approached him to point out the temple buildings. He said to them in reply, “You see all these things, do you not?
Amen, I say to you, there will not be left here a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.” As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately and said, “Tell us, when will this happen, and what sign will there be of your coming, and of the end of the age?” Jesus said to them in reply, “See that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many. You will hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for these things must happen, but it will not yet be the end. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be famines and earthquakes from place to place. All these are the beginning of the labor pains. Then they will hand you over to persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name. And then many will be led into sin; they will betray and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and deceive many; and because of the increase of evildoing, the love of many will grow cold.
But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come.
“When you see the desolating abomination spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains, a person on the housetop must not go down to get things out of his house, a person in the field must not return to get his cloak. Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days. Pray that your flight not be in winter or on the sabbath, for at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will be. And if those days had not been shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect they will be shortened. If anyone says to you then, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’
or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect.
Behold, I have told it to you beforehand. So if they say to you, ‘He is in the desert,’ do not go out there; if they say, ‘He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

SUPPLICATION
O Son, by your resurrection you saved your Church from error;
hear our supplications and have mercy on us.

You reconciled heaven and earth,
grant peace to your Church
and keep her children in the light of the cross.

O Son of God, give joy to the Church on your great Day,
and seal her children with the sign of the cross.

Let your peace reign within her,
and may her feasts be multiplied in the shadow of your peace.

May she be guarded against error, and labor each day with the builders of faith.
May your Day be a feast where all worries are driven away,
and may your peace reign at all times in her assemblies.

May the rebellious, who seek to destroy her, be driven by your cross from their dwellings,
and led into the path of truth.
May your cross, O Lord, be for her shepherds the fold
where all the sheep are gathered to your Father.

Son of God, your Church praises you on the day of your feast;
her children raise their voices in praise of your manifestation.

Lord, keep your Church and her children from all evil,
that they may glorify you on the day of your feast.
Praise be to you!

Let us remember the prophets, apostles and martyrs,
all those who have labored and suffered in the vineyard of
the Lord: Saint James, Saint Maron and his companions,
and Saint Ephrem, the Harp of the Holy Spirit.
O God, through their prayers strengthen the weak, comfort the sick,
grant pardon to the deceased, and forgive the faults of us poor sinners.

Exalt, O Lord, the memory of your Mother and your saints;
through their prayers grant pardon to us and to our deceased.
Through the prayers of your Mother, the prophets, apostles and martyrs,
watch over the living, and in your mercy, forgive those who have died.

HOOTOMO
Let us confess, adore, and praise the holy and glorious Trinity: Father, Son + and Holy Spirit.
Amen.

TRISAGION
Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy

Holy are you, O God;
Holy are you, O Strong One;
Holy are you, O Immortal One;
have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy on us.
Lord, forgive us and have mercy on us.
Lord, hear us and have mercy on us.
Lord, accept our worship and our prayers.
Lord, come to our assistance
and have mercy on us.

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who are in heaven;
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours,
now and forever.

Amen.

O Lord,
the night and the day are yours;
you uphold the light and the sun.
Through your power you direct the sequence of the seasons.

O Lord,
you have brought the day to its close and called forth the night;
Be for us that great Day that never ends.
In the evening let your light shine in our hearts,
and in the darkness of the night,
enlighten us with the knowledge of your truth.
And so, through all the days of our lives,
we shall praise you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
To you be glory and may your mercy rest upon us,
now and forever.

Amen.

EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE
Let us thank God for all the graces he has bestowed on us
this day which has passed in calm and peace.

Let us recall our failings against the commandments of
God and the Church in thought, word, deed or omission

We ask for God’s pardon as we pray:
“Forgive us, Jesus!”

Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Glory be to you, O Lord.
Glory be to you, O Lord.
Glory be to you, O Lord.

God,
Father in heaven,
by your living and holy name,
keep us from evil and lead us not into temptation;
for we call upon you, O Lord, our God, our constant hope,
glory to you forever.

O Lord, our Lord,
may our humble worship be pleasing to you;
may our prayers come before you and our actions give you honor.
Let you mercy, kindness, help, graces and divine love
be poured abundantly upon us, poor sinners,
both in heaven and on the earth
which you have created in your goodness.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory forever.

Amen.

DISMISSAL
Peace be with you.
And and with your spirit..
O God,
through the prayers of your Mother and the saints who have
believed in you;
Through the prayers of the prophets, apostles, martyrs and confessors;
through the prayers of the just, the priests, the holy fathers, the pastors and teachers of the truth faith;
and through the prayers of N., Pope of Rome, N., our Patriarch, and N., our Bishop,
forgive your people and have mercy on your flock.
May God bless, forgive, sanctify, purify, and keep each of the faithful united with us in this spiritual office.
May mercy and compassion be upon us and all the faithful who dwell here.
May peaceful rest be granted to those who have died in the faith.
May the faithful who live here experience the protection of Christ’s victorious cross.
May we and all his servants, who adore him with bowed heads,
receive the mercy of the holy and glorious Trinity:
Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit,
to whom be glory now and forever.

Amen.

May God forgive your sins,
pardon your failings,
and deliver you from the power of the enemy.
May he grant you the remission of your offenses.
Go in peace, and pray to Christ for me.
