They trust in you who cherish your name,
for you forsake not those who see you, O Lord.
Sing praise to the Lord enthroned in Zion;
proclaim among the nations his deeds;
For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
nor shall the hope of the afflicted forever perish.
Rise, O Lord, let not man prevail;
let the nations be judged in your presence.

EVENING PSALMS
Psalm 141:1-4
O Lord, to you I call; hasten to me;
harken to my voice when I call upon you.
Let my prayer come like incense before you;
the lifting up of my hands, like the evening sacrifice.
O Lord, set a watch before my mouth,
a guard at the door of my lips.
Let not my heart incline to the evil
of engaging in deeds of wickedness
With men who are evildoers;
and let me not partake of their dainties.
Psalm 142
With aloud voice I cry out to the Lord;
with a loud voice I beseech the Lord.
My complaint I pour out before him;
before him I lay bare my distress.
When my spirit is faint within me,
you know my path.
In the way along which I walk
they have hid a trap for me.
I look to the right to see,
but there is no one who pays me heed.
I have lost all means of escape;
there is no one who cares for my life.
I cry out to you, O Lord:
I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land
of the living.”
Attend to my cry,
for I am brought low indeed.
Rescue me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.
Lead me forth from prison,
that I may give thanks to your name.
The just shall gather around me
when you have been good to me.
Psalm 119:105-112
A lamp to my feet is your word,
a light to my path.
I resolve and swear
to keep your just ordinances.
I am very much afflicted;
O Lord, give me life according to your word.
Accept, O Lord, the free homage of my mouth,
and teach me your decrees.
Though constantly I take my life in my hands,
yet I forget not your law.
The wicked have laid a snare for me,
but from your precepts I have not strayed.
Your decrees are my inheritance forever;
the joy of my heart they are.
I intend in my heart to fulfill you statutes
always to the letter.
Psalm 117
Praise the Lord, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!
For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever
.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
Alleluia.
HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the eternal Wisdom,
who instructed the simple and gave knowledge to the poor.
He is the Divine Master, who built his Church upon Peter, the Rock and chief of the apostles,
and placed Paul as its brilliant lamp.
To the Good One is due glory and honor this evening,
and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.
SEDRO
Glory to you, O Christ, Word of God,
you gave us life and light,
humbled yourself, and came down to teach us truth,
justice and love.
You founded your Church upon the apostles
and taught them that they were to be the messengers of love and justice.
You made them shepherds and guides of your people,
to lead your flock towards the waters of delights.
You chose the fisherman, Simon, son of John,
and made him a fisher of men.
You chose Paul, the pharisee, a chosen vessel,
and made him the apostle of the nations.
Yes, Lord
you have shown forth your mercy and your love for us
through Peter and Paul;
one of them denied you, and you looked upon him with kindness, the other persecuted you, and you called him to follow you.
You placed in their hearts the fire of apostolic zeal
and traveled through the entire world proclaiming
that they had contemplated your glory
and had seen the light of your resurrection.
And now we ask you,
through their intercession:
preserve your children from all error or deviation,
grant us to live and to die proclaiming:
“Our faith is the faith of Peter; the faith of Peter is our faith!”
Give your shepherds the uprightness of Peter,
the courage of Paul and the zeal of the Twelve.
May your shepherds be your witnesses in difficult days
and in times of anguish.
May your Church be a beacon which guides nations to the harbor of truth and justice,
not only by word, but by example of life.
Establish peace in the ranks of all Christians;
may your cross protect them and your promise be engraved in their hearts.
Strengthen priests, so that they may serve you,
and missionaries, so that they may spread your gospel.
May Peter and Paul, by their lives and deaths, be models for us, guiding us to spread your truth and peace.
In your goodness, support our Holy Father, the Roman Pontiff, who is in the successor of the had of the apostles.
In your love, assist his Beatitude our Patriarch of Antioch,
and all the patriarchs and bishops who are the successors of the apostles;
may they protect the flock from the ravening wolves.
May this feat be for us a source of joy and gladness;
may we glorify our Church for being founded on the apostles,
and be proud to bear their names.
May we spread their word with courage,
may the world know your name
and glorify the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
for ever. Amen.
QOLO
The Lord, chose twelve apostles and sent them into the world
to teach and baptize.
Our Lord has built his Church on Peter and has chosen Paul as the apostle of the nations.
“Possess needed gold or silver;” “My peace I give you, my peace I leave you;” “May love be my last commandment for you and for those who will follow you.”
ETRO
O Lord,
on this evening could we commemorate Peter, Paul and the other apostles,
accept our prayer.
May we praise you without blemish all the days of our lives
by walking in the footsteps of our ancestors,
and by spreading your word of truth.
Give us your Holy Spirit,
and be animated by the faith Peter and Paul
And be animated by the zeal of the Twelve.
We shall give you glory,
are now and forever. Amen
MAZMOORO
The apostles went out into the world, sowing the wheat instead of the thistles; then there are the zealous workers who have uprooted the errors which led us astray.
They were the beacons for the world; they were resplendent and the gloom which filled the universe was disbursed.
O God, you accepted the prayers of our ancestors, accept our
prayer and have mercy on us.
SYNAXARION
Peter was originally from the town of Bethsaida on the shores of the Lake of Tiberias in the region of Galilee. In Aramaic, his name was Simon, son of john and Lord gave him the name Peter, which means rock. He was married and worked with his brother Andrew as of fishermen at Capernaum. Almost nothing is known about his family life. Peter and Andrew were disciples of
John the Baptizer and when called by Christ, they became his followers. To Peter had a fiery temperament and was, at times, somewhat hotheaded. Yet he loved Jesus and followed him of all his spirit. At Caesarea Philippi the Lord handed the care of the church over to Peter and confirmed Peter’s primacy after the resurrection. After the ascension Peter exercised his authority over the church through his preaching and teaching in Antioch, Corinth and Rome. Peter wrote two epistles and the gospel of Mark preserves much of his teaching. He suffered and died in Rome where he was imprisoned and eventually crucified upside error on the Vatican Hill and on the twenty-ninth day of June in the year 67. The Emperor Constantine constructed a church over his tomb.
The apostle Paul was born at Tarsus in Cilicia around the year 7. He called himself “Saul” and says concerning himself that he was “circumcised on the eight day, being of the stock of the Israel and the tribe of Benjamin, but he grew up of Hebrew origins; in legal observance I was a Pharisee, and so zealous I persecuted the church… but those things up I used to consider gain I have no reappraise as loss in the light of Christ.” (Philippians 3:5-7) He acquired knowledge of both the Greek in Hebrew cultures and studied theology in Jerusalem under the great Rabbi Gemaliel. He assisted in the persecution of Christians and was present at the death of Stephen.
He was converted would move ordered appear to him up on the road to Damascus. He was baptized and began to preach the gospel to the Gentiles. He traveled throughout the Mediterranean and some claim that he went as far as Spain. He was arrested and brought before the Jewish and Roman authorities. Because he was aroma assistant he appealed his case to Rome where he was beheaded. Goal letters of Paul are born incomparable source of Christian doctrine and are essential for a thorough understanding of Christ. To the Lord, who chose Peter to be the chief of the apostles and Paul to be the apostle to the nations, be glory and praise forever! May their prayers be with us. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the First Letter of Peter
1 Peter 5: 1-11
So I exhort the presbyters among you, as a fellow presbyter and witness to the sufferings of Christ and one who has a share in the glory to be revealed. Tend the flock of God in your midst, overseeing not by constraint but willingly, as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly. Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you younger members, be subject to the presbyters. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility in your
dealings with one another, for: “God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble.”So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings. The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little. To him be dominion forever. Amen.
A Reading from the Second Letter to the Corinthians 2 Corinthians 12: 1-11
I must boast; not that it is profitable, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. I know someone in Christ who, fourteen years ago whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows, was caught up to the third heaven. And I know that this person (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows) was caught up into Paradise and heard ineffable things, which no one may utter. About this person I will boast, but about myself I will not boast, except about my weaknesses. Although if I should wish to boast, I would not be foolish, for I would be telling the truth. But I refrain, so that no one may think more of me than what he sees in me or hears from me because of the abundance of the revelations. Therefore, that I might not become too elated, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me, but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me. Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong. 1 I have been foolish. You compelled me, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I am in no way inferior to these “superapostles,” even though I am nothing.
SUPPLICATION
O Lord of night, and master of all time,
hear our supplications and have mercy on us.
You reconciled heaven and earth, grant peace to your Church
and keep her children in the light of the cross.

Rejoice and be glad, for the gates of Hell will not prevail
against you.
Rejoice, O Church of the Lord, exult with joy; for today
